A 70 year old man has diabetes, cardiopathy and Parkinson´s disease and has been treated with enalapril, metformin, aspirin, amiodarone, and levodopa. Due to symptoms of malaise, cognitive impairment, and depression, he seeks the advice of a family physician. Blood tests revealed his TSH levels were over 40 mU/mL. At this point, medical management of this patient should include the withdrawal of a medication the patient has been taking, a blood test for an antibody and the prescription of a new drug.
